Brock New Forest Ponies

A brief look at a few of our homebred ponies at Ford Farm Stables....

Brock Baccarat

Baccarat (or Ratty as she is more fondly known) has been one of our most successful forest bred ponies of all time. By Bucklands Dragonslayer, Ratty has competed both in hand and under saddle with great success, her biggest achievement came at the end of August when she won the Supreme Championship at the Breed Show 2012 - achieving a life time ambition for Trudy and James. Ratty has produced another cracking foal this year, a bay colt foal known as Harry.

Brock Bronwen

Brock Bronwen is a daughter of Ratty's (pictured above). Following in her mother's footsteps Bronwen has been extremely successful in the show ring with numerous championship wins under her belt. She is currently enjoying possibly her most successful season to date with championship wins at the South of England, Three Counties and NFPEC shows. We are still hopeful of one day winning a ticket to HOYS with her, and with the way she is going it certainly looks achievable!

Brock Macbeth

Mac returned home to Ford Farm despite being sold as a youngster. On his return he proved slightly quirky to back and break in, but has since settled down to the job at hand. Mac has recently raced in the New Forest Boxing Day  point to point with Helen Booth, finishing a very creditable 3rd on his first attempt and winning the race in 2014! unfortunately due to a leg injury he was unable to compete in 2015. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation with the hope of doing some hunter trials later on in the year.

Brock Anthea

Anthea is pictured here competing in the forest point to point novice race over 3miles in which she finished 5th under jockey Charlotte Thompson. Anthea is a versatile mare who has had a number of succesful offspring as well performing well herself in hand and under saddle. Anthea is currently earning her keep in the riding school, escorting rides on the forest.

Trenley Tamar

Tamar is a gelding out of Trenley Tarentella. Tamar has been shown in hand since a foal with much success and has recently begun a career under saddle in both ridden and WHP classes which he thoroughly enjoys. Tamar has also been earning his keep as a ride escort.

Trenley Tabitha

Tabitha, or Charm as she is more fondly know, has been competing since a 4yr old gaining BD points and racking up numerous Working Hunter Pony titles. She has been hunted many seasons, is graded for her show jumping and is even used in the riding school for lessons. She is one of our most versatile ponies and is a firm favourite amongst both the staff and the clients who are lucky enough to ride her! Charm has recently been put in foal so we are hoping for a lovely foal from her next spring.

Trenley Tarentella

Tarentella was born and bred at Ford Farm. During her younger years she earned her keep in the riding school, although only being used for our more experienced riders as she has her quirks! The staff enjoy using her to escort hacks as she loves to be out on the forest. Now in her more advanced years she is proving to be a successful broodmare with offspring Trenley Tamar and Trenley Dragonfly consistently bringing home rosettes.

The Brock herd have been extremely succesful over the years both in hand and under saddle. Each year we breed a number of very nice foals from both our brood mares and our number of mares running out on the forest.
