News and Updates from the Ford Farm Team ...

Trenley Tamar and Helen Booth

Boxing Day News...

This years Boxing Day Point to Point saw two Ford Farm ponies lining up at the start of the race. Former employees Helen Booth and Steph Davies accompanied Trenley Tamar and Brock Boudicca respectively for this years event. Both were in the Young Commoners race and travelled well across tricky ground in the early stages. Unfortunately on the approach to the finish first time runner Tamar and jockey Helen came down on the bottomless ground, although bravely the pair re-united and finished the race. We are pleased to report both are unharmed. Brock Boudicca fought on gamely to cling on for second place, a first for her but a fifth consecutive second for jockey Steph who is still searching for that elusive winner!!

Point to Point Season begins...

The point to point season has got off to a slow start for team Ford Farm this year - although plenty of potential amongst the ranks! Swallowshide picked up a second in the Hunt Members race at Larkhill before Christmas. He returned to the track last week to try and repeat this success, but rather out of character for this consistent jumper had a fall after a circuit. Both horse and jockey were unharmed. Pickle (Hincheslea Moor) and Jasper (Ober Water) have been a little under the weather of late and as a result Jasper pulled up in his latest run and Pickle has yet to hit the track. Both are now on the mend and will hopefully be back to winning form soon! New addition to the yard for this season Emergancy Speed - or Ned as we know him - has shown more and more potential as the weeks have passed. He is working and schooling incredibly well at home and although he has pulled up on both starts for us so far, latterly as a result of a few issues with the steering, we are very excited about this horses future.
